Blijf op de hoogte en volg Justin

As usual, we arrived half an hour too late at Surabaya Gubeng Station. After a bit of hassle in the castle at the station about how to go to the hotel (we were crowded by several becak bikers) we arrived at approximately 22:00 at the Artotel Hotel. My, what an artistic hotel, with so much detail on the designs.
The walls are neatly painted and decorated, and the hotel lobby contails several sculptures and paintings. The restaurant menu contains several Australian, Dutch, Belgian and French dishes, among the local specialities ofcourse. Fortunately, the restaurant was 24/7 hours open, so that proved convenient since we haven't had dinner yet, and still could eat something
After a good night rest, the two tantes went out to town to get their train tickets back to Jakarta, which took some time as usual. Then, the three of us went out for a stroll and had lunch at a Japanese fast food restaurant. We then booked a taxi to Mt Bromo after some confusion on the prices and the time of departure. It seems we had to sleep at 5pm already, as we will leave the hotel around midnight.
So it was Sunday, September 16th at 0:30 we left off in the Dark, 125km south. The trip was amazing - I tracked the route with my GPS as well and I will post this later on. We were steadily climbing to 2250m and the pitchblack night was illuminated with many bright stars, which was already impressive to us. Mom thought she saw a Belgian car (yeah right ;), among the plenty spring onions) and finally we managed to park the car at a platform. We intended to book a jeep to the summit, but failed to do so, as all jeeps were booked. You could see from the platform there were many people rushing to the mountain, which was also a sight to see. It was really cold, so we were all glad we brought our jackets with us, and we also. bought a scarf, in addition to our hoodies and masks we already had.
Then, finally, around 5 am, Lady Luna traded her place for Lord Sun. The sight and the scenes were just magnificent and truly inspiring. Some things cannot be captured with a photocamera, and this is one of those moments. I cannot describe how beautiful it is to see the sun rise above the mountain peaks and the valleys. just breathtaking!
We decided to descend and get back to our hotel, where we arrived at 8:52. We quickly went to bed to catch some extra sleep. After packing our luggage, we decided to have some lunch at the hotel. Now we have to wait for the taxi to the airport as our flight departs at 19:10. Unfortunately, I just got a text from AirAsia our flight was delayed 2 hours, so we won't arrive in Bali until 23:00 this night.

Dag # 7 (Vandaag, 16-09-12)
Daar zaten wij dan heeeeelllll vroeg in de auto (om 00:30u!)....wij gingen opweg naar de berg Bromo.
De vaste weg verruilden wij voor gebergte. Het was erg donker buiten en buitenom wat huisjes en ' winkeltjes ' zagen wij niets (Anna meende nog een belgische auto te zien en bosuien :p).
Uiteindelijk na een hobbelige rit aangekomen op de berg, wat was het koud! Jus en ik hadden gelijk een shawl gekocht van een local daar hahaha.
Toen er uiteindelijk geen Jeep meer te verkrijgen was, gingen wij bespreken hoe en wat. Op dat moment werd de schemering ingezet....en snelde wij drieën gehaast nog een stukje de berg op.
Wat was dat prachtig om te zien zeg! Bijna niet te beschrijven hoe mooi het is om de nacht langzaam over te zien in dag. Foto's uiteraard gemaakt maar die kunnen het maar half het beeld vangen ten opzichte van het echte moment!
Later terug in de auto en naar het hotel. Erg comfortabel was de rit terug niet...ik lag in een knik, Justin's hoofd deed niet onder voor de excorsist en Anna kon de slaap niet vatten! Maar omstreeks bij 9e weer in het hotel en allemaal een powernap gedaan, wat echt even nodig was.
Net even lekker lopen lunchen en dan opweg naar het vliegtuig voor de volgende stop: BALI!
(ondanks dat de vlucht pas 2u later gaat dan de planning is :( )
Tot nu een top tijd gehad maar allemaal voor 2 a 3 dagen, in Bali blijven wij 8 dagen....dagen vol met surfen, massages, aapjes kijken, dolfijnen spotten....heerlijk vooruitzicht!
Nou, tot de volgende update maar dan vanuit Bali!
En natuurlijk, check de blog voor Jus zijn verhaal.
