Sometimes it's hard to describe what you feel, as sometimes you just cannot write it down or express yourself the way you experience something. After all, experience is one of the few things I cannot pass on to other people. It is why youngsters are too stubborn to acknowledge the warnings and advice others give them, only finding out weeks, months or even years later that piece of advice was actually true.

The same goes for writing this travel journey to you guys. The three of us have experienced so many things, words can be just empty objects to those who read this, as they might not fully understand how we see things. Nevertheless, we try our best by writing or two-dailies =).

Yesterday, Friday September 23rd, we took a day off from splendid Kuta the day before. We certainly enjoyed that place as it was such a contrast from what we have experienced (there's that word again). The sun setting at the sea's horizon, with a golden beach full of tourists and surfers on the foreground. We had such a good laughter at the Cafe Local and Tim had so much fun as a girl approached him with the iconic phrase "Massage?" Quickly followed by "I like you". You see, despite we see so many things that enrich our lives, we enjoy the smaller things to. Bargaining is here normal, but for us a bit out of the world. But by doing so, we again experience new things, and live the life. So basically, we did not much aside from shopping for new clothes (think we have a new passion here - surfing!), swimming in the pool, arguing with the neighbours about moving a bench (ask Tim!) and having a lovely dinner.

Today, Saturday September 23rd, Anna came in our hotel at 10:30, and we left the hotel for a 150 minute drive through the mountains of Bali to Lovina, a picturesque village in the North for some snorkling. It was quite a bumpy ride, which caused Tim to fall a bit nauseous, but after a coke and a meal at the Sea Breeze pub, he felt much better. We had a good chat about the tiny monkeys we have seen along the road in the mountains, including a monkey which was reading a book!

After lunch, we agreed to go some snorkling. This man brought us to a spot in the Java Sea where we took the plunge. The sights were amazing! So much clear water, beautiful corals, many curious, colourful fish swimming around us, and we managed to see a large turtle which we chased a bit. Certainly a sight to see! After an hour or so, we got back and had some dinner. The sun was about to set and we took some gorgeous photos and ultimately went back home in the dark.

The 2.5 hour drive was filled with a potpourri of songs, games and ... Sleeping ofcourse. One thing we have learned here is that time goes by slowly in Indonesia. Travelling 80km would take roughly 45 minutes in the Netherlands but not here. It truly reflects your life, that often the joy can be found in the journey. On your journey, one should try to relax and make the best of it. After all, you will say in many colours to your friends how your journey was, rather than how beautiful something was in just three lines or so. What do you think?

Now, we are having dinner again at the restaurant of our hotel. The fact that it is tranquil and peaceful, while having dinner under the stars with slowbeat music means a lot to me - just as watching a sunset.

Okay enough jibber-jabbering, tomorrow we'll head for Brisbane in the evening. We'll say goodbye to Indonesia for the next few days. Our next update will be posted from Aussie soil! Please leave a comment on what your thoughts are of this blog post and please share what you think of what we have posted (including FB material!) so far?

Take care

On behalf of Tim and Anna,
Justin

    Rowena:

    Love you...

Hey Roween, hahaha nee het was echt een aapje die een rood boekje of krantje met twee handen vasthield alsof tie aan het lezen was. Tim en ik kwamen niet meer bij van het lachen!

Ronald, good, very good. Uploaded a few photos in my previous entries, and just check my, and Tims FB photos okay, since the space here is limited!

Justin, this is some of the best travel writing I've ever read. You have a real gift for capturing the spirit and adventure in your travels; it's very poetic indeed. Readers can easily envision exactly what you are experiencing, and you make it all sound so appetizing, one wishes they were there to savor it with you. Excellent job, and so glad you are all having such a fabulous time. Indonesia rocks!
